The scammer hides his/her identity behind "Microsoft account team <[email protected]>". You cannot see the real sender's email address even by hovering the mouse over the fake Microsoft email address. You have to hit "reply" to see the real address (of course, DO NOT actually reply to the sender). The past few times I've received this fake email, the real sender's email address has been [email protected].

Here is the body of the fake Microsoft email:

We detected something unusual about a recent signin to the Microsoft account (your email address).

Country/region: Spain/Madrid

IP address: 103.251.12.244

Date: Thu, 23 Feb 2023 04:16:14 +0000

Platform: Windows 11

Browser: Chrome

A user from Russia/Moscow just logged into your account from a new device, If this wasn't you, please report the user. If this was you, we'll trust similar activity in the future."

I have reported these emails as phishing to Microsoft and blocked the sender's email address. So far I've not received one since.</[email protected]>
