On 12-6-17, an internet security alert repeatedly showed up on my computer. In an attempt to resolve the issue, I called the support number listed. When I called, a man with an Indian accent answered and asked what service I was calling for. I informed him that I was receiving internet security warnings and he asked for the code that was listed. He asked if I was the owner of the computer and where I usually use it. I told him mainly at my job. He began to instruct me on how to resolve the issue by pressing the windows sign and r together and then to type hh microsofthelp. He then gave me more codes and instructions to type in. He also mentioned that I called just in time because hackers were able to establish a connection and access my information from my computer because I went to a website that triggered it off. He said that my network access protection was off, but that he was going to help me activate it, by then he was able to control my computer and allegedly make changes. He asked me what websites I usually go on and if I perform banking or any other financial business using my computer. I told him yes, and he asked for which one. He asked me to check my bank account to make sure that every thing was fine. I told him I already checked using my phone and that everything was secure. He insisted that I logon on my computer since it happened on the computer. When I logged on he asked if the screen was black and I said yes. He said it was because he couldn't be on the computer while I was logged in to my bank account. Afterwards he asked me to shut the computer off. When I got back on he said that it didn't look good because my information was already compromised, but that he was going to assist me. He then gave me three payment options for the internet security protection. After I told him I could not do none of the plans. He insisted that I would lose all my important information and that my computer would crash. After I refused, he reminded me of the consequences and ended the conversation. After the call, I no longer was able to use my computer.
