They wanted me to pay them $299 for them to remove a virus they put on my computer. Thankfully I have a wonderful it technician who caught this and didn't allow them to take my money and infect my computer with virus'

James Smith employee#me32 calling from phone numbers 1-866-383-1010 ext. 272 and numbers 1-311-923-5440 and 1-844-232-0989 and 1-309-672-3970. telling my husband and myself that his gmail account was hacked and he was from micro soft and he was the only person who could help resolve the issue and get the hackers stuff out of my computer. He gave me a code to type into my computer of 888DC60FCoA11CF8F0F00C04FD7D062. so I got off the phone with him to research this info and didn't find this to be correct. So I blocked my phone number and called him back and the lady that answered the phone said something I could not understand and there was a lot of noises in the background for a call center. When I asked her again what she said she said customer service from micro soft. That was not what she said in the beginning. Then 2 minutes later James Smith called me back and I asked how he got my phone number cause it was blocked from there call center and he said cause I called him. I told him my number was blocked and he said no it came through on his system. He also said by law he has authority to shut down my computer. When he called me back I was on the phone calling the BBB and these are the numbers that came in on my phone 1052 and 1059 not even a phone number. I have worked in Fraud for over 15 years so thank goodness I know a scam when I hear one. Be careful...Thank You BBB for helping.
