I clicked on google chrome and this message poped up on my computer with a loud voice telling me that my computer was infected with virus. They claimed to be Microsoft tech support. So I called the number thst was on my computer screen. They told me that I could take my device to a store in Charlotte or I could have them clean up the virus remotely. I gave them access to my computer when I started questions they fasted talked me and asked me if I wanted my computer restored that I would have to pay up or lose everything on my computer.

My computer was taken over by a virus. There was a pop up that said I had to call this company for tech support. They quoted me a one time fee of $499. The guy on the phone asked me if I was internet savvy. He had a British accent and said he was calling from San Diego, CA. He then transferred me to a tech who sounded Middle Eastern. At this point, I called my buddy who is an IT guy who told me this was a scam. I hung up and turned off my computer.

While reading internet news my browser went down and a pop up alerted me that my computer had been hacked by a "tiny banker Trojan" and to contact microsoft support at a 1-800 number. I reluctantly had them join in on my computer and they did an awesome job showing me the problem. They also used the internet to show me examples of the problem including multiple web sites and Wikipedia definitions. I watched as they went in to FileHippo and WinRAR and cleaned my drives and went into google and added ADblocker and ADguard. This gave me more confidence that they were really helping me in my "time of need" as I did have reservations and asked questions about who they worked for. They were experts and did a great job of making them appear legit. I admitted I needed tech help and needed their $399.99 years worth of protection from personal information theft and malware protection. My fear of loss and the perception of needing it to be taken care of right now did not allow me to do research. Only after did i find info on the ScamPulse.com web site and other places about tech support scams. I was able to contact my credit card and dispute the charge and cancel that card. I am now tasked with trying to figure out what they were able to obtain while having access to my computer.
