I'd like to point out that as you can see from the first e-mail, the way they "Got to me" in the first place is by using the "Contact" form on my company's website, at ***.***.*** .
So they sent the initial e-mail, which was:

IP Address : ***.***.**.** TextArea3 : Hi i will want to know if you can handle my new website design and do you accept credit card payment?
TextArea1 : micheal williams
TextArea2 : [email protected]
(Thinking this was perhaps potentially a legitimate new client) I then responded to the person, asking them to describe a little more about what they do. They then sent this (what is in quotation marks):
"Here is the job details
I have small scale business which i want to turn into large scale business now it located in TX and the company is based on importing and exporting of Agriculture products such as Kola Nut, Gacillia Nut and Cocoa so i need a best of the best layout design for it. Can you handle that for me ?. so i need you to check out this site but i need something more perfect than this if its possible .http://***.***.***.... the site would only be informational, so i need you to give me an estimate based on the site i gave you to check out, the estimate should include hosting and i want the same page as the site i gave you to check out and i have a private project consultant, he has the text content and the logos for the site.
Note:
1. I want the same number of pages with the example site i gave you to check excluding videos and blogs.
2. I want only English language
3. I don't have a domain yet but i want the domain name as ***.*** 4. you will be updating the site for me.
5. i will be providng the images, logos and content for the site.
6. i want the site up and running before ending of next month.
7. My budget is $3000 to $8000
Kindly get back to me with an estimate

I then sent a large e-mails detailing how I work. The final e-mail they sent said (in quotation marks),
"Great the cost is very much okay with me and i will want to make 50% payment to you right now to get started with my project, i will want you to know the consultant has the content and logo for my website ready please what credit card merchant do you use for payment and i can make the payment now thanks
Please i will need a favor from you to the consultant also thank so much

It was at that point, *I* got online and did some research because it sounded sketchy. The way I finally determined it was a scam was that I literally copy/pasted the text from various of the three e-mails they sent me, into a Google search(es), and found, online, other instances of other Web Designers who had received similar e-mails with nearly identical language. Clearly, the attempted scammers just use some other random "outlook", or "gmail", or "hotmail", or "yahoo" address that they make and just "try again" using similar e-mail formats.
Just passing along the scam attempt ^_^ .
