I had applied for a receptionist job on indeed, and this person responded via email saying the job I applied for was no longer available but that I was being considered for a personal assistant position. We have been in contact via email, but he was not forthcoming with any information. I had asked him multiple questions which he ignored. Then I got an email saying he would send me 3,000 dollars and from that I would take out my pay heck for the week and pay his bills with. He was very clear about saying that once I had deposited the check to take a picture of the deposit slip and send it back to him. This is when I called the business he supposedly worked for and they told me they had had 3 other people call asking about someone with the same name. Of something like this happens to you, be sure to look out for ambiguous emails that seem professional, but have minor grammatical mistakes. Also, he would send a ‘professional’ email on day, and the next it would be a few words thrown together without even a proper greeting. This is a possible indicator that the scammers first language is not English. Also if they ask for pictures of banking information that should be an automatic red flag. You would think that obvious, but as someone just trying to get a job and not even thinking of scams, it seemed legit at first. Learn from me.
