This person, in New York, called me, in Alabama, stating that he had recently purchased a house in my town and needed a quote for a new roof. I sent him a quote with my phone number and my business address, which happens to be my home address. I provided that even though the current roof appeared to be less than a year old. He said he just wanted a different color. Sounds legit so far. This is were that changes. He then asked if he could use his credit card to pay for the roof and include an extra $6,000 for plumbing work on the same house (said the plumber didn't accept credit cards). He asked me to wire it to the plumbers account, once it showed up in mine. He then offered an extra $100 to me if I did it and gave some sob story about the plumber's son sick from Covid. I became suspicious and researched the sale of the house. It's on the market and doesn't close for at least 2 more weeks. Realtor also said there had been no plumbing work done. So... this guy doesn't own the house, hasn't had any plumbing done on it, and wants to replace a brand new roof. He called me asking if I agreed with his request. When I said I didn't feel comfortable, I barely got that out when he hung up on me. I haven't heard from him since.
