Yesterday, a man came to our door. He wanted to give us an estimate to seal our blacktop driveway. My husband went outside with him. The man said it would be $700. My husband agreed. Two men in their forties, and a younger man in his twenties began working. They had a sprayer thing and their tools. They were here about two hours. Michael and John came to the front porch and said they had under estimated the job and wanted $3900. I said I would not pay $3900 as the estimate was $700. He wanted to argue that my husband had agreed to $1400 knowing it was just an estimate. I said my husband agreed to $700. He said because he is a veteran, they would knock off $500. I wrote a check for $3400 made payable to John Tan. Then I stopped the check online. There is no contact information on the receipt.
