An individual posted a vehicle on CarGurus.com for sale. In this case the vehicle was a BMW M3 Coupe. The email provided for additional questions was "[email protected]". The response email was from a Dr. Michael Boledczek with an email of "[email protected]". As the story goes, he is a doctor in Poland who bought the car last year from a colleague during a rotation in San Francisco. He took the car back with him, but encountered hurdles with registering it in Poland. Therefore, he was looking to sell it back to someone in the states since the car still had a CA title in his name. The VIN(s) provided are fake, which was confirmed by a local certified BMW dealer and BMW North America. They also were not recognized by CARFAX. The story, answers, and documentation (website for a dental office, emails, titles, licenses, etc.) were very elaborate. The seller offered to ship the vehicle back to the US, provided what appears to be a legitimate transport company, and stated the third party shipping company would control the funds until all parties were satisfied and the transaction was complete. No money was lost because documentation did not line up.
