PLEASE BE AWARE!!!

https://www.mibila.com/ with this email address [email protected] is fake. They market that they sell used/refurb laptops for cheap price.

This is a scam. They pretend that they send something in the mail and in the tracking they show the progress.

You believe that it is true and something is coming but nothing will be delivered. No phone to contact, no response to email either.

- Tampa, FL, USA

I found an ad on Facebook for a refurbished HP laptop on Cyber Monday for $79.99 on 12/2/2020. This ad guided me to a website called mibila.com which looked like a legitimate e-commerce website. They listed their address in San Francisco, CA. It had a customer service e-mail ([email protected]) but did not have a phone number, which was a bit worrisome, but since credit card purchases are covered by buyer protection, I went ahead with the purchase anyway. The shopping cart directed me to Paypal to complete the purchase, which I did. I received a confirmation e-mail from Paypal, but none from the seller. The Paypal confirmation revealed the seller as Amy Brown from Illinois, gave an incomplete address (AMYBROWN, 1345 E NICHOLAS, IL 626). The website continued to list my purchase as "pending".

Three days after the purchase was cleared by my credit card company, I still haven't received any shipping or other e-mail from the seller. I sensed fraud, contacted my credit card company, found Amy Brown's number on my credit card transaction (4029357733), which turned out to be not her number but Paypal's customer service number. I wrote a strongly worded e-mail to the seller requiring clarification.

Two days later (on 12/7/2020), I received an UPS tracking number from Paypal showing that a package shipped from Swedesboro, NJ was delivered in my city (street address not shown) three days prior (12/5/2020 12:45 pm). I was home at the date and time of delivery noted by UPS, however, I saw no UPS truck and I signed nothing, though UPS tracking number shows "Driver release", meaning someone from my house signed to receive the package (I checked, no one did). I contacted UPS to open a case to figure out exactly what address the package was delivered but haven't heard from them since. I also opened a claims dispute with my credit card company and with Paypal for fraud, which is currently open. Paypal says that it will resolve this matter in 10 days and will refund my money if this turns out to be a fraud. That's where I'm right now.

This evening, I found this scam alert on ScamPulse.com's website: https://www.bbb.org/article/scams/21097-scam-alert-tracking-code-trick-costs-onl... This is exactly what happened to me.
