Renewing my passport on the state.gov site, it takes you to a pre-filled form section to pay the Passport Book fee of $130.00. After submission to the Dept. of State, I was still required to send a check for $130 and was told the site I used is a third-party service that charged that fee for assistance and is not affiliated with the Dept. of State, even though the Dept. of State website is where I went to complete the process.
