Caller identified as affiliated with Methodist Hospital refused to tell me the the purpose of the call until he “verified” my date birth. I reluctantly gave it to him and he informed me that I had a small outstanding balance. He knew the date of service. He was eager “to take care of it” for me over the phone. He said they no longer sent paper statements for amounts under $25. He was also unable to send an electronic statement. I refused to give him my cc#. I have no idea whether I have an outstanding balance or not but if this is not a scam, it certainly looks like one.
