9/28/20: Looking for teacup puppy. I thought I did my research well because I’m usually suspicious to scams & online purchase but it’s hard to find in pet stores. Apparently I’m not. This website Merit Puppies Shop says 5th year anniversary, puppies slashed from $1,999 to $499 with 2nd one $299 (total 2 for $798) with one day only free shipping due to their 5th year anniversay. Total great deal right. I should’ve stuck with my motto all these years with if it’s too good to be true then it is. Girl I chat with is Ashley N “sales manager) aka Ashley Mack or Ashley Runts. Asked her I have family to look at it & buy it. She says due to Covid 19 they do not allow for anyone to come at this time. I hesitated & hesitates for a day & looking into supposed breeder. There was no phone number or address except she says they’re located in San Francisco. I was stupid enough to see that’s the first sign of a scam. Then we decided to proceed with the purchase. She asked to pay with Zelle it cash app. I hesitated back & forth with Ashley that preferred method is credit card (easier to track). SonI gave in & paid it. She said both puppies will shipped to me by Wednesday. We asked to be neutered (free service) so we said ok. Later that night, she said she had them neutered & I will receive it Tuesday. A day earlier was great. Shortly after, she had American Domestic Freight/Domestic Freights which she said she uses them all the time. I missed the Freight people’s call but they emailed me. Said due to the puppies sizes 10 weeks old, they cannot ship to us without a thermal crate which there are 3, cost between $1,000 - $1,500. It’s a free crate but we just need to deposit it down, once we get the puppies & return the crates, the money will be fully refunded back. We got the cheapest. I then emailed back I forth saying my preferred payment is credit card. I said fine, we paid by Zelle again for the crate. Thought done deal & puppies shipped. Nope. They were suppose to send confirmation. They sent one but wasn’t valid. This started early in the morning around 6-8am. Later on around 3-4pm, they emailed me again. Saying I need to pay another $1k for the 2nd puppy. I emailed messaged back & forth with these 2 for a long time arguing I didn’t know & shouldn’t have to pay if it’s free. requested us to pay by Zelle. so I told them my Zelle reached it’s limit. He then called I didn’twant to answer hence online shopping. I picked up anyways. He who had a heavy Indian or Asian accent was kind of hard to understand. He pushed for Zelle again. Then gave me a couple options, One Vanilla card or prepaid master gift card. Again took me 1/2 to argue with him that I don’t have time to go out to purchase non sense tings like this. I said they are a shopping company they should have access to credit card machine. Ashely told me she’s hobby breeder who doesn’t have it. And she said each person is allowed to have their own method. Hung up & asked his name, he said Patrick if that’s the real name.9 Anyways, I had to go out of my way to get gift cards which took a while with stores selling this. I got 2 separate card one vanilla & prepaid visa. Later on the Freight guy emailed stating Visa won’t work & to return it for master card gift card. At his point I was more stupid but frustrated. She went out to get $500. Only email I got was “I received. This is correct.” Throughout the day puppies haven’t been shipped.

Each payment of Zelle has different emails& their names. Luckily I made screen shots & saved email any message correspondent with them.

So 9/30/20 this morning, I received email back after a million ones I sent the day before for confirmation. They emailed me said “To Mrs puppies already shipped in flight. Will call when in transit. I emailed back for confirmation. Told them if this is a scam which I know it is, I know an attorney in the Northern California area if these puppies are not delivered in 3-4 hours or I can have my attorney’s & investigators come now and investigate their scam etc... I emailed both Ashley & American Domestic Freights. At the end I said BUSTED and good luck with jail time. They got scared apparently. They tried to delete email correspondence with me but lucky I made screen shots & saved it. Then American Domestic Freight Huy’s tried to call me, I didn’t answer & he sent an email saying. Due to the nature of the puppies got ill so the puppies did not ship after he told me it was 4 hours ago. I emailed back & said “it’s not shipped because you’re a scammer!” Good luck in jail.

I feel extremely stupid, knowing how I don’t like buying anything online for the fact of being scammed. Us being this careful still got scammed by these scammers! All the signs were there, ingnored it. They had no address, domestic freights had 3 numbers, 2 of which all day was busy signal, one they use keeps ringing like 10 times & then busy signal. I’ve gotten 2 tracking numbers, I tried 1st one which was invalid, 2nd one tracked a Pomksy named Smokey. I looked in their website & there was one with same name. Messaged chat with her & Ashly said it was a big mistake. Because ordered a Maltese & Shih Tzu. All the little things in communication had signs of a scammer, but I already paid for it so we had to see how it works out in the end. Win for them lose for us out of $2,800.

So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I urge anyone who plan on making online purchase especially a pet or something expensive, buy it locally & see it in person not online. If they ask try to convince you instead of credit card but push you use CashApp, Zelle those 2 are what scammers go for first, then One Vanilla Visa gift card (which I never heard of) is their 3rd option and MasterCard gift card. Some others scammers won’t take. Don’t buy from anyone who pushes you to use these. They are scammers & is untraceable. One Vanilla card, the company is starting to trace it. The nice man at Walgreens warned me & hesitated to sell it to me & convinced me most of them are scammers but I was too stupid to not listen because we already purchased the puppies. He said One Vanilla has already caught 2 scammers using this. I think once they scammers figure it out, they will stop using One Vanilla gift card.

If it’s too good to be true, take it from me it is. I should’ve listened to my instincts but was too dumb to listen. Expensive lesson learned for me. At my expense I don’t want anyone else to make this same mistake with Merit Puppies Shop & American Domestic Freight aka Domestic Freights. Oh and scammers don’t sign their names only with a “regards“. No documents have an address, except the city state & zip. The also don’t answer if you ask for address or phone number.

Names came up during communications: Main girl goes by 1) Ashley N on her website. Ashley Runt uses for payment. Also shows her name as Ashley Mack which I think is her real name. 2) Patrick (supposedly) is the guy who runs the Domestic Freights scam. Then the other payment did for crate shows the name Brandi Perkins. This scam with Ashely she’s in San Francisco.

Then 2nd tracking number shows a label sending from SF to NY to Gary Viavattine, 197 Alpine Rd, Rochester NY 14612. Phone: (585)301-2795. Not sure if he’s another victim or part of the scam.
