The scammer initially contacted my mom and convinced her she won 2 BMW vehicles. They told her to send $20,000 to pay for taxes and insurance. Then they told her she won $188 million in the FL lottery and after MANY phone calls and a very convincing scammer, who called himself Richard Hall, she send $300,000 as he was telling her he was coming down to meet her and this money was for the taxes she has to pay, plus someone else won it also, and the money was for additional fees. The scammer became her "best friend" She had notes she wrote where he was telling her what to say if questions were asked. He had her convinced he was coming to visit her for the holidays and to meet her. After I finally found out about it on Dec 27th, she called him when I was there but he would hang up when I came on the telephone. This has been a very upsetting and disturbing event to me and my family. The amount of money that these scammers can get is ridiculous. Something has to be changed!!!
