I applied for a virtual assistant position on Indeed. After a few weeks, I received an email that stated that I was selected for the position, and asked to verify my location. A few days later, I received an extensive and well written email, introducing himself as Ed Pesicka, that he had lost his assistant and had immediate tasks for me to do. He would be mailing me via Fedex a check for $2488.10, that I was to take my wages of $795 out of the payment and distribute the funds to a medical research facility and a foster care home. All of this was surprising to me, and I felt that it was a scam. I did not want to put my personal accounts in any jeopardy and when Fedex came to my home, I refused the package. I had a few brief texts with this person, but never got any clear answers, and figured if the job was legit, they would be happy to answer my concerns and speak with me. When they would not call, I blocked the numbers and glad I refused the FEDEX envelope.
