Medicare representative Reports & Reviews (3)

Person phoned and asked for Medicare number - they said because of recent 90th birthday they needed the Medicare number. After hanging up, they called again and demanded the Medicare number and stated that now there was no Medicare coverage because Medicare number was not being provided. The phone call was again ended by hanging up.

Man called as a representative of Medicare. His name was Chris (East Indian accent). Asked for me by name and said that Medicare was being billed for a knee or back brace. I replied that the information he had was incorrect. He read off some numbers from my supposed medicare card but they were inaccurate. I said his information was wrong and discontinued the call. He called back about an hour later. I said that I had already spoken with him and I would be recording this conversation. He hung up..

My 91 year old mother received a phone call today, May 18, 2018, identical to the report below. Difference was that they wanted to send her a knee brace. My mother has had chronic knee problems for years. How did they know she has chronic knee problems? They asked her for SS info, knew the name of her secondary insurance company, and her name. How did they get that??

YOUR REPORT FROM 2017:

Scammers often target seniors by pretending to be representatives of insurance companies or healthcare companies. Recently, the ScamPulse.com is seeing a new twist on this classic con: calls from “Medicare” claiming to have your new back brace.

How the Scam Works

You pick up the phone, and it’s someone pretending to be a Medicare representative. From there, the con has two typical patterns. The scammer will either offer you a back brace through Medicare or claim that a caregiver previously called about receiving a back brace from Medicare.

If you show interest in the brace, the scammer will start asking for personal information, such as your Social Security number or a Medicare number to access the benefits. Don’t fall for these phony claims, even if the calls are persistent! The callers offer no company name and may even hang up on you if you ask for further company information.
