I get called between 20 and 30 times a day from companies saying their representatives of Medicare and are offering free neck/back/knee braces. They ask for your Medicare Number and tell you that they braces are free. They are usually East Indian sounding voices, sometimes sound Asian. They can be extraordinarily belligerent. I only answered a couple of times before I knew it wasn't real, especially when they ask for your Medicare Number. I have seen online reports about this scam too. I've tried to ask to be put on a do not call list to no avail. I occasionally answer and tell the caller I'm reporting them to the HHS department, but they only just hang up and call again. The phone numbers that show up on your phone are not real so there's no one to call back.

I've even received two sets of braces from two different companies that I've never even talked to. I just send the stuff back. I've also reported this to the Department of HHS/Medicare division.
