I was on Facebook and on a local group I found a work from home ad posted by a woman from my area. She said she worked for Medical Marijuana Inc. and they were hiring immediately and was 18-22$ an hour. Needless to say it all sounded good and I'm in need of work. So I contacted her like she said to do in her ad. Later she had asked me questions on things such as what type of phone I had. She then referred me to download the Telegram Messaging App for android and gave me a "hiring department info code and then a "start up code" to reach the "company". Once I started talking to the company it still sounded genuine and professional until they wanted to know my full name, location, and an interview via text. after being "accepted" for the job they then wanted me to set up an online portal. Now in order to do that portal I had to send pictures of the front and back of my drivers license, a general picture of myself for my "profile" they also wanted me to buy a $100 eBay gift card in order to setup their new recruits and a video selfie via the website ID.me. which is how i came to know this was all a scam, because the website belongs to California EDD and I never applied for healthcare benefits of government services there when I don't even live in California. They sent me links on my phone tp click on cause they wanted more information and the text said "Your identity is being used to apply for government benefits or healthcare services. Do not click this link if you do no recognize this transaction." though looking back all the signs were there I just didn't see them. I don't want anyone else falling for these people the way I did.
