I accidentally transposed two numbers of the phone number that I was trying to call. Instead of telling me I had the wrong number they pretended that they were the right number. I kept asking to be transferred to a certain department to which they seemed like they were going to transfer me. Instead they lied and said I was selected to receive a medical alert device free. I told them numerous times over their recorded line that I wasn't interested. I kept asking to be transferred to which they never advised me that I had the wrong number. Instead they pretended that after they talked with me about this "free" medical alert device I would be transferred to the correct department. After a frustrating 8 or 9 minutes I gave in and listened to their information about the medical alert device. Long story short they were going to send me the device for free but charge $50 a month for monitoring. I again told him I wasn't interested and to transfer me. He let me know that the number I had called may have been wrong. However they knew what department I was trying to reach from the very beginning. They not only wasted my time but more importantly got personal information from me before I realized they weren't the company I was trying to call. But they knew this all along. I feel they were purposely trying to scam me of personal information.

The man said, This is Josh with Medical Alert. Can you hear me. And I stupidly said "yes". I then remembered that this was the current scam going around.

When the phone is answered as man states that he is from a Medical Alert Company and then asks if you can hear him okay.

I answered NO and hung up.
