On Friday, January 5th when I went for my weigh in and vitamin injections, I was told that I had to pay a $35 surcharge on top of my copay of $40 plus my vitamin injections. Since I had referred someone, the $25 injection was waived but told by Medi's front office personnel that I was to pay a surcharge on top of my copay until I reach my $1000.00 deductible. I said I was not made aware of this and do not recall signing anything that agreed to a $35 surcharge. The response from the Medi Spa personnel was "this is what the owners want and its not in your contract".
There is nothing in my contract that states I agreed to pay $35 on top of my copay (that is a Junk Fee).
The day prior to my incident with Medi Weight Loss in West Hartford, The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) took action against in fact this is very similar poor business practice that on January 4, 2024 ) action against auto dealer Manchester City Nissan (MCN), along with its owner and a number of key employees, for systematically deceiving consumers about the price of certified used cars, add-ons, and government fees.
Medi Spa Weight Loss of West Hartford is scamming their clients who are patients by adding 'junk fees' on top of copays that is never agreed upon and is an unfair business practice.
The owners never called me to discuss this and plan to also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.
