I was hired by Medcare limited March 2026. I went through onboarding, giving all my personal info like you would normally do when hired by a company. Everything online. Did not meet anyone. Was promised $18/hr, then $28/hr after training.

Went through normal training on Teams with 4 other people. Then they told me I had to order an iPad and iPhone and send the equipment to an installer to put HIPAA software on it. They told me I would be reimbursed for everything and that they would pay the monthly payment. I did send it, and before a week was up I started questioning HR on Teams about where my equipment was. I could not get answers from anyone, and that is when I thought it was a scam.

AVOID MEDCARE LIMITED / INSTITUTE. They offered me a work from home job promising $18/HR during training, then $28/HR afterwards. After a week into training, I was told I could not use my personal computer due to HIPAA laws, and I needed to add an iPhone 17 & iPad 13 to my account, but they would pay the monthly payments. 2 weeks later I was told I needed to get a MacBook, and again promised to reimburse. I never received a paycheck and my devices were stolen by the supposed I-T department I sent them to for software installations. Grand total of scam $9700.
