I sent this to My McDonalds today:
I kind of felt scammed by my local McDonald’s. The menu says burritos are one dollar each, so I ordered two burritos($2), one hashbrown($1.99) and a Diet Coke($1). The total should’ve been $5.36 with tax. the screen even displayed that price for a moment. As I was pulling away from the drive up screen the computer system automatically threw me into a number seven meal which was two dollars more for the exact same items. When I got to the pay window I mentioned the price change and the order taker was confused as to what I was saying. I had to explain it multiple times to her. I did finally get the price corrected.
How many people don’t notice this And are overcharged? How many other food items does this happen with? We’re not talking a penny or nickel overcharge here, we’re talking nearly $2 per order! Per Customer!
How much extra money are they making on consumers that don’t notice the quick price change?
Below is the canned answer I received back from them. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with my concerns.
Thank you for contacting McDonald's regarding some changes you've noticed with our menu. Customer feedback is very important to us, and we appreciate this opportunity to respond to your comments.
Please know we work very hard with our suppliers, research and development, and internal departments to consistently offer a broad menu that can be offered at a good value in our restaurants. As such, McDonald’s and its independent owner operators do everything possible to keep price increases to a minimum, but sometimes they are inevitable due to increases in market and operating costs. We are sorry for any disappointment you may be feeling as a result of this price change.
Again, thank you for contacting McDonald's. We will continue to be committed to providing menu choices with the everyday affordability that our customers expect.
