I met this guy on the dating site MeetMindful.com. His profile said he lived in Brooklyn, NY was divorced with three kids. He contacted me on the site and we started chatting. we chatted on the site for a month before he asked for my phone number. He then continued to call and text me. He said he had full custody of his kids. When I asked about his ex-wife he said she left him and has not contact with their kids. He told me that he was had lived overseas for awhile and went to school at the University of Dubai. He had a slight French accent. We talked about what we wanted out of relationship and future goals. Plans for a date. When I asked when we would meet up, he told me that he was going on a trip to Austin, Texas for his job. He sent me pics of the contract he received and that he then had to fly to Cyprus then. I thought something was off but was not sure. He then was telling things were going well, then had deposited a large amount of money in his account that he could access once the job was completed. Then, this past week, he said that the government of Cyprus was charging tax for supplies and sent me the letter they supposedly sent him about the cost. He said eh had to ask friends for money but was still about $50,000 short. It was on this past Friday (8/17/18), that he sent me a text saying that he needed me (not asking) to wire him $40,000 or whatever I could send to him in order to pay off the tax on the construction supplies. He sent me his bank information, password to access it to wire the money over to him. I was about to block him on my phone yesterday. I had the ringer off and he had called. He did not leave a voice message though. I saw that the number said it was from Paige, Texas. I now knew that he was a scammer trying to get money form me. I did not answer him back but quickly reported him to the dating site. I found out he had deleted his account from the dating site and that someone else had reported him but they never contacted me to let me know. I also reported him to Facebook as well. I kept the pictures he sent of his account and anything that seemed out of sorts now. I was lucky to realize that he was trying to scam me and never sent him money, but who knows who else he has already scammed out of thousands of dollars in the name of love. I hope by me reporting him will put a stop to him and that the authorities find him.
