Friday 3/19 at 11:57am I received a voicemail (no call, just VM) from 932 388 5151 stating it was an urgent matter and I needed to reply TODAY by calling 931-246-6968. I called and the Voicemail was for Detective Shawn Obrien. I left a voicemail. They called back and I spoke with "Shawn Obrien" for a few minutes. They stated there were active charges under my name for failure to appear in court and one other charge. They gave me badge numbers of officers, criminal code charges, and their Sherriff Dept. address. They knew my work address and stated on Feb 16 I signed a subpoena to appear in court on March 9. Feb 16 was a heavy snow day and I do not work on Tuesdays, so I knew it was not me. They said "well then it should be easy to freeze these charges, do a signature analysis, and get my money back within the next few hours," but I had to pay them via phone (Because COVID) first. They said I was not allowed to walk into federal property with these charges active, or I would be detained. I did not have a bank here where I lived, so they intimated, manipulated, and convinced me under duress to contact my bank, get an increased spending limit, and go to a random bank for a cash advance. I went to 5/3 bank and they allowed me to take out $7600 in cash, no questions asked. I would question the scammers, ask them if I could call them (but no, I couldn't, because "this is the real dept number" and "we cannot lose contact with you or you'd be considered fleeing). I would ask for a deputy to meet me in the parking lot ("they are tending to another emergency, fire/break in"), I would say I felt like I was being scammed. They had every way around my concerns. I asked why I needed to post the full charge rather than a percentage and they said "we are handling this via Civil matter ma'am, unless you'd like to go the criminal route and turn yourself in to be arrested." I had a "gag order" placed on me during this time and legally "could not break contact or tell anyone about this until it was handled." After they received the funds, they asked for more, as half of my cards were Pending. I said no, and they said they would need to maintain contact with me until they were through. I hung up on them and went to the Sherriff Department, met the with REAL Shawn Obrien. And filed a police report. My bank did not question my reasons or ask if I was ok, 5/3 bank did not ask me if I was ok. The stores asked if I was ok when buying the cards, but I was told I had to lie, as this was a legal matter. There were 3-4 men involved and 1 woman involved. They were intimidating, angry, and also tried to make me feel more comfortable while making me feel isolated and alone.
