The individual listed as Matthew Alex Presley fronted himself as the property manager for 191 N Parker St Unit in Orange, CA. My partner contacted him for two weeks where he asked us to fill out a simple rental application that did not ask for personal information or credit report. We did not give him any personal information beyond our name, email, and phone number. Once he received this application, he asked for photos of our drivers license. In response, he sent us a photo of his drivers license and we felt comfortable to proceed. The drivers license he sent is listed below. He sent a thorough lease agreement that stated if we were not pleased with the unit for any reason, we would be able to receive our money "immediately". He also asked that the money be sent before we see the property. Myself, my partner, Matthew Alex Presley, and a woman fronting as the landlady named Elena Vergara signed this lease agreement. We agreed on a date to visit the apartment and "pick up the keys" at 12:00pm on January 25th. Upon my arrival, Matthew Alex Presley was not present and unreachable. On the building, another name, Brian Snell, was listed with a number to call. My partner called this number and we found that Matthew Alex Presley was not under his practice and was found to be involved with "fraudulent and illegal activity". We then contacted our bank to pursue action. Information that was provided to us is listed below, although the accuracy of this information may not be correct as it came from the scammer. As of January 25th, the same individual has put the listing back up onto Craigslist and that link is attached below.
