I received a text saying I purchased a Matterport camera and if that purchase wasn’t made by me to call the number given to dispute the charges. I had just reported my debit card lost to my bank less than an hour before so at first I thought it might be legitimate before realizing it was a scam. I didn’t end up calling them. I don’t know if the timing was coincidental or if they somehow knew I reported my debit card as lost. My best guess as to the goal of the scam was that if I called they’d either receive my information from the data of the call itself or ask me to “verify” my bank account info and scam me that way.

I realized it was a scam because I know that my bank typically emails me if I make a purchase above a certain amount but they do not text me. I’ve never received a text to alert me about a large purchase and ask me if the purchase was from me. When companies have texted me in the past following an online order they typically just send an order confirmation and codes for their upcoming sales. This type of next is one I’ve never seen before from my bank or a legitimate business.

Further, there are obvious unprofessional grammatical errors that I noticed afterwards.
