Mashable INC. Reports & Reviews (1)

I was contacted via text that my application for a position at Mashable from a few months ago was finally being looked at, and that this individual needed an email to send me the updated position information. I sent him my email address (which is available online anyways) and they asked me to download the Wire app (similar to Signal or Telegram) to communicate with them. Then they immediately started a text interview with me. Thinking that the pandemic might had forced the company to outsource for hiring/recruiting, I continued and answered what ever questions they had. They never asked for anything incredibly personal, and the questions were very professional and reasonable. This lasted 6 hours. The next day, I was told I would have a phone interview later in the day with the Marketing Director. I got a call, answered three questions, and then was told that I was hired. When I tried to ask more about the position they just said my supervisor would contact me shortly to give me more details. I was then given the next persons information and was told to contact them on the Wire app, that person then claimed to be my supervisor. This contact started at 5 pm CST and went until 1 am CST which they told me that my pre-employment training will begin tomorrow at 9 am. The next day I immediately asked for more information on the position and for a letter of employment, they said I would receive it by the end of the day. Cautiously I agreed to continue. The person contacting me told me that before the pre-employment training she had to go over more information with me. She told me they would be sending equipment my way: A new camera for video, a new computer, a headset and a printer. She then said they would send me a couch and a desk, and a team would be dispatched within the next few days to setup my computer. Next, they told me the video editing software I would be using (I am a professional Video Editor by trade), and they listed two competing softwares. I said that those softwares conflict with each other and would be weird to use, the person just said "would that be a problem?" and I said no. Finally, they said to finish this whole process and to enter me into their system they needed the name of my bank and to rate their customer service from 1 to 5. I asked them to have a person from HR to contact me to get my info in a secure way, and they told me the name of my bank was not sensitive information. I told them I didnt want a 3rd party to know my banks name, and that it was a national bank anyways. They immediately ended contact with me. I only gave them this information: My name (but not my middle name), Phone #, Email, the camera equipment I already own, two references information (phone, name and email only) and the links to my video reel. All of which is public anyways. Never give out your bank info, I got lucky.
