I rented, for the Thanksgiving Holiday, a condo on the beach in South Padre Island through VRBO. I communicated with the owner through messaging on the website. After Hurricane Harvey - I messaged and called the owner multiple times to check on the rental. There was no response. After multiple attempts to reach the owner I cancelled the reservation. I contacted VRBO to file a complaint and they said that I had to go through my CC company to get my 920.00 deposit returned, and that it is up to the owner of the property to return deposits. VRBO does NOT vet their properties. I have filed a dispute with my CC company. In the meantime I have received an automated request for additional funds (through VRBO website) for the rental. I believe it to be a fraudulent listing. This complaint is against both VRBO for their lack of response, and lack of investigation into the legitimacy of their rentals and also the "owner" of the listing. I am also writing a letter to the Attorney General.
