His name was Marcos, age 66 on Tinder. He was from Eugene, Oregon (2 hours from me) but originally from Rome, Italy. He said he was a structural engineer with Gilbane Building Co, currently in his last job before retirement, building a hospital in Toronto, Canada. He said his wife and eldest son were killed in a car accident 3 years prior and that his younger son is in a boarding school school in France. His wife was from France and his son’s teacher was his wife.me best friend. He said he was looking for a special someone to spend the rest of his life with and to travel with. After a few days of near-constant texting, he started saying he loved me and would love me forever and that I was his queen. After week he said he wanted to put a ring on my finger. After 2 weeks he asked if I would ever marry him and be his son’s new mom. He said he was coming back to Oregon Jul 8 and we set up a date to meet in person Jul 10 (5 weeks after we first started texting). He called a lot too. He said he only had company phones and needed to use Home Depot gift cards for his phone. He said he hadn’t planned on falling in love and thus texting a lot when he left the US for this Canadian job site and that he was running out of minutes on his Home Depot gift card. He said other guys on the job told him that Home Depot gift cards they bought in Canada wouldn’t work for their US-owned phones. After 2 weeks he asked me to send him a $300 Home Depot gift card (buy it and take photos of it and the receipts) and he would pay me back when we met. Then a mere 2 days later (3 weeks before we were to meet) he said he needed another $300 Home Depot gift card as the first one was already 70% exhausted. At that point I blocked him on my phone.
