****** ****** - with days of my mother-in-law's death began sending postcards to buy our "inherited home". These were sent to each of her children - the only way Chaire could have gotten this info is from searching the obituary. At the same time, she also sent books on grieving to all the siblings listed in the obituary - mostly anonymously - through Amazon. Postcards have been sent at least weekly, sometimes more, ever since the funeral (over 2 months now). She then sent a letter promising to continue sending information on grieving and referring them to UofU School of Nursing for grief counseling. The address on the postcard and on the grieving letter are the same - PO Box 1098 Sandy UT 84091. Googling led me to a Facebook Page for Utah's Fast Cash Home Buyers. - the email address [email protected] appears to belong to the person sending the grief materials - Nellie Chaire. The company's website -http://mail.utahsfastcashbuyer.com/ - shows they are a member of BetterBusinessBureau. However, no information about them can be found on ScamPulse.com website. Also, searching State of Utah shows there is no business licensed under that name. I have emailed Nellie Chaire requesting she stop contacting my family members as it is causing considerable emotional harm to some, as well as contention about the best way to distribute the assets from the estate. In spite of this, she continues sending the postcards. Using a bit of trickery, I was able to get Nellie to return a call and leave her cell number for me to call her back. I texted that cell number again asking her to stop inserting herself into our family's private business. She did not respond to the text and still persists in sending her offers to buy the home. After the last mailing, I again texted Chaire and told her to leave us alone, and informed her the home has been sold. This time she texted back, claiming to be a 17-year-old girl who saw my texts as "threatening" and stating she would call the cops if I texted again. I couldn't resist that and told her "please do so I can tell them about her scam." I then got a call from that number, which I didn't answer. The voice message was a male voice telling me that the police have been called on me and I better stop texting now. Other texts told me that I was scammed because I was dumb and I should drop it. I texted back telling them that using the US mail to perpetrate a scam makes it a federal offense and when the cops contact me I will use all the info I have been saving on them. The threatening texts from that number stopped immediately after that. I have copies of the postcards, the letter, the grieving book, the emails, the various phone numbers they use, the voice message they left on my phone, and all texts between us. Whether or not what they do is legal, it is certainly unethical to scour obituaries in order to contact people at their most vulnerable time in order to try to make a profit, as well as continuing to push themselves on us even after being requested to stop. Also, misrepresenting themselves as ScamPulse.com members must be a violation of some kind. We already had a plan in place for Grandma's house, which was only momentarily delayed by this unwelcome intrusion, so we have not lost any money. But their business model is obviously targeting people in family crisis, so the potential for scam is huge. They need to be stopped.
