I put 2 pieces of furniture for sale on Facebook Marketplace. He contacted me and seemed interested. Wanted to pay with Zelle, which I had never heard of. Told him only cash or Paypal, but I would look into if my financial institute had Zelle. Next day replied to him I had set up Zelle and he could now use to send me money. He said he sent, I was looking at my online banking...nothing. Then I got an email from Zelle (fake) ([email protected]). It stated that I needed to have buyer send $300 more to upgrade my account to business account and increase my limit. I would then have to send $300 back to him to reimburse, and they would hold the $600 and it would not be reflected in my account until I reimbursed him. He kept urging me to just do what Zelle says, but it didn't all add up to me. I was trying to research online while communicating with him, and I called my financial institute and they confirmed, no deposit. Most likely Scam. All the while he said he was getting mad (trying to hurry and pressure me). He even showed a fake deposit receipt. Then I received 4 more fake emails, from same email address, the last one saying he had reported to Zelle and FBI would be involved. I reported scam to Facebook, and blocked him. I was one click away from loosing money!
