This particular scam involved more than 20 victims, an advertisement to have your car wrapped for Lyft, Redbull or Uber was posted on various sites. They would contact you and ask about your vehicle, name, address, etc. When they had that information they would Fedex or USPS overnight a package to you with a check for usually either $5525 or $3500. These checks are forgeries using account and routing numbers stolen from ligament businesses. The scammers have you deposit the checks into your bank account, then have you pay someone who claims to be the person who will wrap your vehicle. You will be told to keep about $1000 and pay the wrap guy the remainder. When the check fails to clear the bank you are out $2500 to $4500 with no recourse.
