My Aunt got a phone call from Bruce Huntington at the U.S. Customs Homeland Security in Miami, FL. saying she had won $750,000 in a sweepstakes. She was to go to the UPS Store in Elk River, MN and call the sweepstakes company in Las Vegas when she was there. Then they would send a 4 page fax to her with forms that she needed to sign and return. Once she had the forms she was to call Bruce H. back and let him know she received the fax. Bruce told her she needed to send a certified cashiers check in the amount of $7,500 (which would be refunded to her) in order to get her prize money, That sent a red flag - she needed to send money to get money? We questioned Bruce and he said it was a handling fee for the company that was handling her prize money. We still questioned him. and he said the sooner we sent the money - the sooner my Aunt could get her money. We told him we'd get back to him. After we left the UPS Store I called the Minnesota Attorney Generals office and the Better Business Bureau and they both said it was a SCAM. After I got home I googled the places and people listed on her forms and none of them were what they stated they were on the forms! It is sad that there are people out there that will try to take advantage of people! Bruce Huntington was so convincing - he had me convinced it was not a scam after talking to him for awhile. Luckily I questioned the validity of my Aunt needing to send in money to get her prize money.

Besides the form attached below, she also received Form W-2G (Certain Gambling Winnings) and CBP Form 301 (listing my Aunt as the Principal, and listing Capital Insurance as co-principal, and DIA Financial Services as Co-Surety).

I'm thankful my Aunt came to me with this instead of handling it on her own. And the only money she lost was the $4.75 she had to pay to receive her fax.
