While looking for a few Golden Retriever breeders that we wanted to get applications in for, I had come across this lovegoldenretieverpuppies.com and thought I had great timing. My partner and I were ready to welcome a new puppy into our family and we were doing searches so we could fill out applications and try to get on some waiting lists. While looking at this site, it looked like they had a liter that had just reached 10 weeks and were ready to be adopted. Each puppy was $550, and the site stated they had some lower prices because they were family oriented and enjoyed finding good homes for puppies rather than just selling dogs for profit. The site also included shipping information, privacy policies, and a review page full of, what seemed to be, legitimate positive reviews for the adoption process. I sent an email expressing interest, and they immediately responded and asked me to fill out a questionnaire. Once I had answered the questions, they then asked me to fill out an adoption form. This all seemed pretty normal for the adoption process I had seen thus far. They then said they could ship the puppy to me, as they said they were located in Minneapolis and I am in South Carolina. They stated they had a working relationship with Delta airlines and that Delta always took great care of their animal shipments. I am a frequent Delta Flyer and I didn't doubt that Delta would take such excellent care of animals, so I proceeded. This person then told me they need my confirmed payment before they could complete registration at the airlines and send me a registration certificate. So I sent them my full name, address, and closest airport to me. I then sent $700 via Zelle to them. After processing, they send me a "Certificate of Registration" from Americas Pet Registry and told me the airline would send me full flight details shortly. I then got an email that said it was from Delta, although it did not look like something Delta would send, and the email stated that the puppy would need a Covid-19 vaccination and would need a safer crate to travel in, which would cost me $1200 but would be refunded to me in cash upon delivery. Immediately after recieving the email, I got a call from a TN number, and the man said he worked with the animal shipments in Delta and wanted to send me payment information so I could send the $1200. He then proceeded to TEXT me with Zelle information for payment. It was at this point that I knew this was wrong, as a supervisor from Delta Airlines in MN, would not only not send a text message to me, they also wouldn't need me to pay through Zelle, and they wouldn't be calling from a TN number. I called the customer service line for Delta airlines, which was when I was informed that they do have not done animal shipments in 7 months. I then called Americas Pet Registry, and they told me the puppies registration number that was on the certificate given to me, was indeed a fake and I was being scammed. I emailed this person posing to be the breeder and told them I knew it was fake, and they continued to try and tell me that the registry was lying to me and that the puppies registration would be real once I signed paperwork. Obviously I stopped all interactions, and have now been filling out Fraud reports and trying to trace my money and see if I can get it back and get this site taken down.
