Someone named "Fred" with broken English texted me asking if I was a designer. I responded yes and he went into detail asking for a logo and other elements he needed for his start up business. He emailed me from a gmail account which seemed weird that he didn't even have his business email yet. But he laid out a bunch of info about his business and asked for a contract so we could get started. He said his website was still in development so I couldn't see if he was legit. He signed the contract and asked for the first invoice. I sent the invoice then he had a sob story about having cancer. Long story short he asked for a much higher invoice then asked me to pay someone else a bunch of money so we could get the files we needed to do the work. And I could even keep the extra money left over. I think he wanted it to look like money was in my account then I pay his buddy and it turns out the money was no good. He was paying with a credit card which is weird. Maybe it was stolen or something. I told him this violated the contract and cut off contact with Fred. Caller ID said he was calling from Williamsburg, OH but his start up was in California.
