I contacted on July 4, for an interview with Lima Memorial Health System. I was offered a job the next day for a remote administrative assistant position. I was sent a check for $4,950 to purchase home office equipment. I deposited the check and was told by the recruiter, Tina Verhoff, to send a deposit confirmation and remove my account number information. I contacted my bank to know why the check was on hold. They contacted the issuer of the check and were informed that it is indeed a fraudulent check. My account is now on hold. I contacted Lima Memorial Health System and the receptionist informed me that this is an ongoing scam and that they have stolen Tina Verhoff’s name and email.

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I originally applied on linked in for a “remote data entry position” the hiring manger was under the name Hector M. Egan. No information on the profile at all about said person. No education or employment history to see on the hiring mangers profile. Someone named “ Tina Verhoff “ then messaged me about an interview. I interviewed the next day , only the interview was text messaging only. They asked a series of basic interview questions. They then told me I would know by tomorrow if I got hired or not. The next day comes and they tell me I’m hired and now I must complete a home office registration. also requested personal information from me ( address, phone number,state etc.) as well as a signed offer letter. Which I gave so hopefully nothing happens from that .The recruiter claimed that I will receive a check from them to purchase my company equipment. Up to this point some things were off from the beginning but this was an IMMEDIATE red flag. I'm very aware of fraudulent check scams and believe these scammers were trying to get me to deposit a check that would later bounce , they also said I would be compensated for depositing it which sounded off. So I emailed the recruiter and let them know this job is a scam and haven’t heard anything back so I am correct. This is so unfortunate as I believed this job was gonna finally be my big break in life and something I was excited about and looking forward to , claimed to pay $35 an hour for data entry. I’m very disappointed and discouraged. Stay safe out here and Be careful. These scammers literally stop at nothing.
