I had scheduled an appoint at Lia Toyota of Colonie this past Saturday, 10/29/22, for a NYS inspection. I scheduled the appointment for 9am. When I arrived I was informed by ..... that it will be an hour wait. After waiting in the lobby for an hour he came out to tell me it will be another 20 minutes. A half hour later ... comes to the lobby again to tell me my inspection didn't pass due to "front brake delamination". I was a bit confused because I literally just had both front and back break pads and rotors replaced less than two years ago. I have never had an inspection fail before so this was quite odd to me. I asked .... to give me my keys and I will take my car to my mechanic. He then proceeded to tell me it was going to be at least another 20 minutes. I asked why since there is nothing more to do. He told me they were conducting a multipoint inspection on the car. I told him I didn't ask for a multipoint inspection, all I came in here today was for a NYS inspection and now it has been close to 2 hours and and somehow my car seem to have failed the inspection. Twenty minutes later I finally got my keys and was told by ... that he "waived" my inspection fee of $21. Which I found to be odd since I didn't ask for it to be waived. However, it now makes more since after taking my car to my mechanic.

On Monday, 10/31/22 I dropped my car off at my mechanic to look at my front rotors. According to him, there was an "ever so slight rust ridge on the edge of the rotors that has ZERO affect on braking. All four brakes are in great shape" and passed NYS inspection."

My inspection ended up costing me 2 hours of sitting at Lia Toyota, getting people to drive me to work and from work and to the mechanic to get my car, an additional $30 for my mechanic to inspect by brakes in addition to the NYS inspection fee of $21. All this because Lia Toyota's service center was trying to defraud me into spending money for work on my car that was unnecessary and went to the lengths of telling me my inspection failed. I now know that ... "waived" my fee because this so called "failed inspection" wasn't even reported to DMV because it was not even completed.

I have been a Toyota customer for over 10 years, I understand their service center does not make money off of doing inspections but I find it incredibly disgusting that they would go to the lengths they did to trick people (or maybe just women) into having unnecessary work done on their car. Lia Toyota has certainly lost me as a customer.
