I was searching for a loan online and received a text from Lending Point stating that I was approved for a loan and that I was to call the number above and speak to Robin, who had a very heavy Indian accent. I gave him the approval code from the text and he proceeded to detail his company’s credentials with the BBB, FDIC and whatnot. He emailed me a link to fill out my information for verification. After I naively filled it out and sent it in, he called me back and said that because my credit score was below 690 that his company was going to send me a small loan of $500 which I was to return via Venmo, PayPal, cash app or through my local Dollar General. This would show up as a paid loan which would increase my credit score and then his company would release my loan. I realized then that it is a scam and declined the offer. I contacted Lending Point and it was confirmed to be a scam

I filled out personal loan application and then got a call from “Kevin” and he said my credit score was too low but they have a way of raising my score so I will be able to get a loan. They asked for my bank online user ID/password, acct and routing #s, social security, address, phone etc. He said they deposited $1867 in my account and all I had to do was return it to them now. They didn’t use Zelle and I did try on Venmo but it didn’t work. They asked me to go to Walmart and take out cash to send it to them. I then called the ScamPulse.com and that phone # was not associated with that business. I then called my bank and learned the 1876 credit was actually them calling my bank and reporting several payments as unauthorised that then got credited while investigating that added up to $1876. So no actual deposit was ever made.
