A person called me claiming they were from an organization called LECAFLE and they were collecting donations for the police and first responders. He said that he could send me information and an envelope to send my donation back in. I told him that I could not donate because I am low income. He said that they have a special program for people just like me where they can send me a letter about it and an envelope for my donation. I told him no, and then he replied, "so I can put you down for $15 or $20" I told him no and then hung up. The person who called did not have an accent, so I believe this scam might originate from the USA. I called my local police department and they said that they have not yet heard of this scam, but appreciated that I let them know about it. They told me to check the ScamPulse.com to see if the organization was real. When I checked here there is no such organization. Plus, I saw that someone also filed a complaint about them too. My local police department said that they will never call people for donations like that. Be aware that many of these scammers are now using local numbers to try to make you think it is a local organization.
