I was price-comparing an outdoor product for my children and admittedly, I found it at a “too good to be true” website and immediately purchased it. I kind of knew almost immediately that I had been naive, although everything on the website had checked out in terms of appearing legitimate. However, all of the contact information is for another website - autolok.work - and the registered owner is known as Gee Chang Company, Ltd. They won’t return emails either by directly responding to the order confirmation email ([email protected]) or via their web contact forms. There are two separate physical addresses listed for this supposed company, both are in Washington but the business name(s) don’t show up as being located there. Lastly, nothing was ever shipped and when I filed a complaint through my financial institution, they claimed they’d shipped it and provided a USPS tracking number. When I clicked the link to track it on USPS’s website, it was for a legitimate delivery (presumably) to someone in my area/zip. However, the tracking feature doesn’t show 1) what the product was, 2) who the sender was or address/company it was sent from, or 3) who it was addressed to and physical address it was delivered to. Luckily, though, my financial institution saw right through their BS because the tracking info for this supposed shipment was delivered a week before I had even ordered it?! But the main reason I’m taking the time to share this experience is that I have read elsewhere that scammers have been doing just this - somehow accessing and providing REAL USPS tracking numbers that show a delivery was made in the purchaser’s zip code. I don’t know how they’re doing that, but I am also submitting a complaint to USPS as it’s considered mail fraud.
