My grandpa was called by a private number and told I was in a car accident in East Lansing, when in fact I was not. Scammer told my grandpa he was a lawyer and to give him $8,600 cash to get the charges dropped, and not to tell anyone about it. Luckily my Grandpa called my mom, but it progressed a little further when my grandpa gave my parents the contact number the scammer provided. They called my dad a few times but as soon as my dad spoke to me, it verified it indeed was a scam.
