After$3500 APPLE GIFT CARDS NEEDED OVER $21000 DOLLARS TO PROCESS.

I was asked for an administration fee up front of £1000.

I am right now being attemotedly scammed by an individual claiming to be "Larry Williams"; he even asked me to submit a photo of myself to him. So brazen...

I received a message from a Facebook friend that I don't really know, but am familiar with, about a community development block grant- "I applied and got $150,000 from them and I don't have to pay it back. So I was wondering if you will be interested because it can also help you as well? applied through an agent and he helped me get the grant. You only have to apply for the grant, do you know how to do that?

Just click on the link it will lead you to the agent inchage of the grant"

I contacted the "agent" just to see what was up. He "checked" to see if I was eligible. I asked if this was legitimate.

He replied "My name is AGENT LARRY WILLIAMS the Claiming Officer of CDBG community development block grant. It's an empowerment program to help people receiving Grant fund for their business and personal use and to help people maintain their standard of living, which was stamped by United States Federal Agency."

I replied no thanks.

The friend kept messaging me to ask if I had been approved and etc. I told whoever hacked his account that it looked like a scam.

I didn't go far enough into their process to find out if they were going to ask for a "fee."

This scam is aimed at mental health professionals. The caller purports to represent CT unions--state workers, police, fire fighters, etc.--and says he is looking for one or two professionals in a given area to accept referrals through the "union" Web site. He does not name the unions or state organizations with which he claims to be affiliated. He uses all the correct jargon regarding treatments for such things as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. He also indicates that, due to confidentiality concerns, many of the referred patients will prefer to pay full-fee for treatment rather than use their health insurance. That would mean significantly more revenue for the professional, and would be a powerful inducement to participate in such a program. The caller then offers to guide the professional to the relevant pages on the "union" Web site, but will not give out the Web address without such guidance. When asked about fees, he responds that there are no referral or monthly fees. When pressed, he states that there is a $365 set-up fee. The scam is designed to extract at least this much from the professional. Legitimate advertising sites for mental health professionals, such as those maintained by "Psychology Today," do not hide their Web pages from prospective advertisers and do not solicit business by telephone. They also provide full disclosure about what you will be paying and what you will get for that money.
