I and my fiancé applied to live at an apartment complex. We paid our application fee but ultimately decided that we did not want to live there and cancelled our application. The leasing agent that we worked with emailed me a couple days later stating that we had an outstanding balance for an 'admin fee' and threatened that if we did not bring payment into the office that it would be sent to collections. The documentation on the application stated that this 'admin fee' was only due upon move-in, which we were not doing and did not sign a lease for an apartment.
