I received a call at my work place claiming to be Lafayette Colorado police (I live and work in Lafayette) The scammer said that our store has been reported for counterfeit money and they need to investigate the money. He had told me that my boss authorized me to do everything he was directing me to do. They then had me transfer as much money out of my savings account into my checking account and go into my jobs cash register and take all of the 20s, 10s, and 5s. I work alone and they had me close down my shop with urgency. They had me head to my vehicle, asked me various questions such as my name and birthday, what vehicle I own, how many miles is on the vehicle, etc. They had me go to my bank without explanation and take out as much money from the atm. ($400 was the largest amount allowed) after this they had sent me barcodes and directed me go to the nearest Walgreens to have all of the cash I had scanned onto these barcodes. They later on had me go to Walmart and scan two barcodes both for $500. They had ME pay from my debit card and additionally threatened if I hung up I could serve 25 days of jail time. The last stop they had me make was to purchase money pak gift cards but the woman working at the store picked up that it was a scam because she saw I had been on the phone with someone. The scammer said to tell her that he was my guardian. I then let the scammer know when I was on the phone with him that I was unable to purchase these gift cards. He then said that’s fine and told me he will be calling my boss and informing him everything that happened and he will call me right back. I panicked and called my mom letting her know what was going on and she told me that it was a scam and to IMMEDIATELY call my bank and make a claim. I met her at the police station and there is now a case. I have provided as much information as I could but unfortunately I didn’t have a ton of it on them.
