Luckily my Zelle declined the 650$ payment!

So basically my story sounds the same as everyone else’s, except my Zelle payment wouldn’t go through because I had just set up my account that day so Zelle put a lock on my account thankfully! I asked for their number to tell them the situation, they were hesitant to give it at first and then eventually did. I called and at first it was a raspy old man, then turned into a different cultured man who got very angry when I was asking to speak with his wife, (who I was emailing with) his story changed about three different times about who’s account the money was going into and then I just finally gave in and hung up. He tried to call back 3 times, I blocked the number and will never try to buy a cat online again ):

I should have known, and I blame myself for falling victim to this one. Our cat passed away. We were heartbroken, and decided to see if we could find a Maine C o o n kitten, since that is the type of cat he was.
Found this place online, and the price was so reasonable (as was the explanation of why the price was reasonable), that I allowed my optimism and grief to overwhelm me and reached out to them through their website.
Heard back from them right away via both email and text. They offered to ship the kitten, which I declined because I was already concerned this might be a scam. I did pay a down payment, but then realized this bore way too many similarities to other similar scams online.
Red Flags:
?The phone # they provided didn't work.
?The payment email (Zelle, btw, yeah, sigh) was different than the regular email. It was [email protected], and the name they provided for payment was Brianaliz More.
?Upon closer inspection, I realized the website 1) gave no location, 2) was dated from 2018, and 3) showed no affiliations with nationally and internationally recognized cat fancier and breeder associations.
So . . . I'm out $350 clams because I'm a grieving, incautious dope. Try to avoid any breeder who isn't close enough for you to inspect the cattery, and watch for those red flags. If I help one other person avoid this double heartbreak, I'll count it worth the money.

I contacted the sellers via their website to purchase a Maine C o o n Kitten. They then contacted me via email to confirm which kitten I wanted, they even gave me the phone to contact them. I did most of my communication through email and once they took my payment and had a fake shipping company contact me saying they needed more money to ship my cat via plane and wanted another 900 to 1700 to rent a kennel for transport. I was then sent an email that my cat had shipped, and I've yet to receive my cat and the number they gave me is disconnected.
