They called saying that our power will be shut off in half an hour, left this call back number. Someone called back and when we asked what address they had on file for us they hung up.

Called and said they were from LADWP and that they were shutting off my electricity in 30 minutes, said I had to call another number to prevent the shutoff. When I called the phone number it was automated and said "Thank you for calling the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power" and sounded perfectly official. The representative proceded to take my home phone number, my cell phone number and my home address and sounded very legit and he said I had to pay $1,500 immediately in cash in order to prevent my electricity from being shut off. That's when I said, "wait a minute this doesn't sound right, are you really from LADWP?" and he hung up. The whole operation is extremely advanced and set up to sound perfectly official. A lot of people are going to fall for this, and unfortunately they now have all my information. BEWARE.
