On Friday Nov 16, 2018 I entered LA Union Furniture store in Lanham, MD to purchase a dining room set, Thanksgiving was approaching, I wanted to have a table for my family/guest on Thanksgiving Day. When I was in the store I didn’t see anything that I liked but the Sales Representative (who goes by the name José) directed me to take a look in some catalogs. I found the table and selected a 5 piece set. José told me it’s better to give cash because they would have to take a picture of my card and ID and send it to his cousin. I didn’t feel to comfortable with that. So I went to the bank and withdrew the money. I returned to the store with the cash in hand. José wrote up the invoice and said he may be able to deliver on Saturday November 17, 2018 if available but, promised to deliver by Monday November 19, 2018. On Monday November 19 I contacted the store at both numbers to see what time they were delivering the furniture. I called about 10 times before someone decided to pick up. When she picked up she told me they would be there at 5:00pm. At 6:00pm I still didn’t receive my furniture I called the number again. The woman who answered the phone speaking Spanish, refusing to speak English then she said “I’m busy and hung up” (She goes by Maria) On Tuesday November 20, I go to the store to find out what happened to the delivery José says they delivered to the wrong address, a address in VA. How is that even possible? So I requested a refund I also informed him I would be contacting a attorney. He sent me pictures of dining room sets and told me to choose one and then promises it will be delivered Wednesday November 21. I said ok as long as I have it before Thanksgiving. November 21 no delivery. Thanksgiving Day my family ate dinner on the floor. I waited, Nov 23, Nov 24 still no call or no delivery. On Sunday Nov 25th I drove to the Rockville location attempting to get a refund. Woman told me to pick another table. “ I said I don’t want any furniture just my refund.” Woman informed me to go to other location at 12PM on Monday Nov 26, 2018. Arrived at store to receive refund and was told she would be here in 1 hr. I waited for 1 hr and she didn’t arrive. I contacted the police who informed me that this wasn’t a criminal matter and to receive my refund I would have to take them to small claims court since this was a civil matter. They scammed me and others out of money, I read the reviews online and they have been scamming customers. Nothing is being done about it. They are still in business.
