I got a cell phone call from someone saying they were from LG & E (first it was a recording that my service was going to be cut off for nonpayment)...I was beside myself because our bill is auto paid from our checking account monthly. After I challenged the person they said that I'd gotten the wrong recorded message and that my service would be cut off today because they'd sent me TWO letters requiring me to upgrade my electric meter and I'd NOT taken action. They then offered to have a technician come to my home today if I'd give them payment ($400 range) via Zelle. I was starting to get a bit worried as our conversation went on so I stopped in the middle of trying to set up a Zelle payment to the following name/phone number: Leuris Reyes (347)282-9753 They then said that I could instead drop off this payment for a "security" deposit for an upgraded electric meter to either Kroger or Walgreens...Then the call started cutting out...they asked if they could call me back to get a better connection. When I hung up, I immediately called my husband asking him to call LG & E to verify the validity of this entire event. He was unable to do so immediately so I called LG & E, They confirmed that it was a SCAM! I feel so fortunate that I was able to catch on to it before I ended up sending any money. I want this person STOPPED! The person tried to call back and when I didn't answer I got a text from (502)402-5599 saying that "welcome to LG & E and that my meter will expire in the next 45 minutes...sorry for the inconvenience. I WANT THIS PERSON STOPPED! Thanks!
