This scammer actually called my relative - my sister who lives in Arizona, and left her a voicemail stating that I needed to call them back immediately and that she needed to relay this message to me. I called them and they stated that I was being contacted by their office regarding an important legal matter and that I was being sued by Easy Money, a payday loan company that I took a payday loan out with in May of 2014. I immediately told them that this is incorrect as I did take a few payday loans out sometime between 2007-2008 but had repaid what I owed on them and none of them were with this company called "Easy Money." I also mentioned that there could have been no way I took a loan out at that time as payday loans were banned in 2010 in the state of Arizona which is where I resided at that time. I asked if they could please send me something in writing to my home and they stated that they could email. I gave them my email address and what came through was a docusign of the document with the amount I owed...but I never opened it for fear that it might by some type of phishing/spam tactic. I continued to ask if they could please send something to me in writing to my home address and the man I spoke to stated that they had sent multiple notices but had not received a response. I asked for the address that they were sent to because I had never received anything from this company/law firm. He gave me an address in Phoenix, AZ that I had not lived at for 17 years (last lived there in 2006). Once I stated this, the representative grew more and more angry and said "well we will just send a notice to your place of employment...which is ____" and he gave me a name of a company that I was no longer at either - and I laughed a bit because I found this comical at this point. That place of employment actually went under and they closed their doors in 2013 which is why I left. So I said "good luck..." and before I could finish to tell him I work from home now, he got even more angry and nasty with me saying "Oh you think this is funny...well you're a loser!" and hung up on me! What kind of business is this that they 1) try to scam people into thinking they still owe companies like this money, and 2) talk to people like this! I just know this is a scam.
