I applied for a personal assistant position through the website of Kirk Worldwide Inc because that was what it said on their job ad via Craigslist. Months later, I received a text from a John Bullock who said he was from HR. He said that he was going to interview me through text because and keep communication with new staff/applicants who are going to be working remotely for record purposes. He told me a little about the company, said they are located in Illinois but that they were going to be opening up a location in the Sacramento area and that I'd be working remotely until the new office opened up. He continued to tell me the info regarding duties of the position including pay and hours. Pay was going to be $900 a week (salary) and 30 hours a week. He then asked for a little of my work experience. When I asked about where the new location was going to be so that I'd know for commute purposes, he explained to me that they were not going to disclose that info for security reasons but that it was close to the address I provided in my application. I was hired for the position and they sent me an offer letter that looked very legitimate and asked for a copy of my photo ID and the signed offer letter. For 2 weeks, I could not get ahold of anyone. I emailed and texted every other day trying to get ahold of someone because I did not get any further paperwork or instructions before or after my supposed start date. I started to suspect that it was a scam until I got a text from the person I was to be working under aka Mr. Kirk. Mr. Kirk told me that he had been really sick and in the hospital and that the doctor had taken phone privileges. Then out of the blue he asked me if I had CashApp and that we were going to have to do some business there. He told me he was into Cryptocurrencies and asked if CashApp can be used to buy and withdraw Bitcoin? After I explained how CashApp worked, how to set one up for himself, and about Bitcoin use through the app, he wanted me to give him my CashApp acount login information. After I told him that I was not going to give him my personal information, he proceeded to manipulate me into feeling guilt for not trusting him because he's my employer. I have not received any messages since I told him that I refuse to give him any of my personal account information.
